Stone-Mine Workers' Children Project (SMWCP)

Divine Welfare Trust

SMWCP targets children of a tribal community which stays in the Kamalpur area, as young as the age of 3, who have been deprived of their childhood, having to work for a living during the day collecting rock and pebbles with no school opportunities. Most of the parents of the children are both illiterate and drunkard.  SMWCP provides for education, food and holistic development for this community and do regular counselling to the parents of these families.

NEEDS/ OBSERVATIONS

A permanent shed is essential as the children are gathering under a tree, which is often interrupted by rains and other natural calamities. Toilet blocks & a proper drainage system are required for the people of this area. Funds for starting new income generating projects are required. A better job/ income generation programs would enable the parents to earn sufficient amounts so that their children would be able to go to school as opposed to be forced to work during the day.

Your contributions will increase our ability to improve the lives of thousands, in a way that promotes dignity and self-worth.
