Who we are?

DIVINE WELFARE TRUST (DWT) is a Public Charitable Trust Registered under The Indian Trusts Act 1882. The Registered Address of the Organization is at Munshi Premchand Palli, P.O. – Mohishila Gram, Via – Kalipahari, P.S. – Asansol South, District – Paschim Bardhaman, State – West Bengal, India, PIN – 713339.

 

DWT History (Key Events):

 

  • 2001-2002: A group of impassioned man, joined together and started an informal humanitarian effort, helping widows and children as well as obtaining, assembling and distributing wheel-chair kits to physically challenged individuals.
  • 2002-2006: The group continues to work as an informal union on various projects. The group decides to establish a formal organization, in order to increase its work.
  • 2006-2011: On the 17th of August, 2006, Divine Welfare Trust was registered as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with the Indian Government. Thus, DWT was formed.
  • 2011: A rehabilitation program was started, which targeted deserted and vagabond children, who lived in and around the local railway stations.
  • 2012-2013: Apart from organizing health camps and awareness programs, one additional project was started among the tribal unschooled children (some as young as three (3) years old) who work all day collecting stones. DWT started providing education and holistic development to the children.
  • 2014: The Indian Government gave DWT responsibility for managing the Mid-Day Meal Scheme Program for a few schools in Asansol; this program supported over 7500 children of Eighteen (18) schools by serving cooked, hygienic and nutritious food to the children on a daily basis.
  • 2015: DWT continued to expand its efforts, especially with regards to widows and children; it started the Divine Child Development Program (beginning with 8-9 children), eventually formalizing it to support 70 children.
  • 2016: DWT began two new projects. The first project was the overhaul and the humanitarian support of a leprosy colony. The second project aimed to improve the life of the children in a prostitute colony.
  • 2017: DWT partners with World Compassion Fellowship, an NGO in the USA.
  • 2018-2019: DWT began a new project to empower women and provide free education to the slum children.
  • 2019-2020: DWT partners with Operation Smile Organization and IQ City Medical College Hospital in Durgapur for organizing medical camps for patients with Cleft-lips and Cleft-Palate. DWT also partners with Mitsubishi Electric for installing RO Water Facility and Water Cooler in two schools of Kolkata.

Divine Welfare Trust is a registered FCRA & 80G non-profit organization. All donations in India are tax-deductible under 80G.
