Conceived to combat malnutrition in schools, our organization prepares and deliver “cooked meals” every school day to over 7,500 children in 18 schools under Asansol Municipal Corporation in Paschim Bardhaman District of West Bengal. These meals are prepared in the ONLY COMMUNITY KITCHEN of our District. For some children this is the only meal they have in a day.

For many children in West Bengal, the lunch served in the school system is often the only meal that the child may have. Serving over 7,500 children on a daily basis, DWT prepares and delivers the meals every school day. DWT also leverages the program by providing jobs to widows and poor people in the community.

NEEDS/ OBSERVATIONS

Though a few utensils were replaced, there is still a requirement of replacing more utensils as they are getting damaged due to regular use. A couple of food carrying vehicles would solve the issue of enlisting new schools from different zones. Government funding is too low to pay for full-time workers; more funding is needed to compensate.
